A fruitful trip down Singapore Art Museum

Most of the museums in Singapore welcome Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PR) with warm hospitality as they offer free entry to Singaporeans and PR... With more attractions and museums on board, we have a total of 11 attractions to visit for free. I took this chance to visit the Singapore Art Museum (SAM). Being a Singaporean myself, I will make full use of the opportunity (free entry) to visit more museums and attractions and get to know Singapore’s story and appreciate my country as Rome was not built in a day, so what we have today is what we worked for.

The Singapore Art Museum (SAM) is located at Bras Basah Road is housed in a beautifully restored school building (the former St. Joseph's Institution). It opened in January 1996, and it aims to preserve and present the contemporary art and art histories of Singapore and Southeast Asia.

The Singapore Art Museum (SAM) has worldwide links with international museums such as Louvre Museum, Guggenheim Museum, Shanghai Art Museum and etc... SAM is home to the world’s largest public collection of modern and contemporary Southeast Asian artworks, with a growing collection of international contemporary art.

I began my art journey with The Learning Gallery...

the grass is always greener on the inside

I have visited the National Museum of Singapore and Singapore Art Museum so far. Oh well, ever since museums in Singapore come on board together in May, 2013, I feel that the number of visitors have increased tremendously on weekends, and this is a good initiative step to keep Singapore’s past alive and strengthen the link with the younger generation. I think my next destination will be either Singapore Philatelic Museum or Singapore Discovery Centre.
